On Friday, July 1, Twitter announced that Katy Perry had broken a new record with 90 million followers.
Perry’s first tweet was on February 20, 2009 and it read “Just got into Berlin… feeling better thank you, have my vicks inhaler by my bedside… and P.S. I TWITTTTER! GAH. Such a follower!”
One of her most popular tweets that was retweeted more than 51,000 times was on February 1st, 2015, which was a picture of a younger Katy Perry holding a microphone with a message that said “She had the dream, always believed in herself & her worth. Today she is the one smiling.”
Other highly-followed celebrity singers are Swift who has 79 million followers and Justin Bieber who has 83.9 million.
She got her site back after it was hacked a month ago. The hacked tweets were deleted.
The official Twitter account posted “It’s party time, @katyperry! With 90 million on the guest list, we’re gonna need a really big dance floor ❤️.”
Katy Perry responded “Dang, this is tight” with a sunglasses emoji.
She later announced that she celebrated the moment at home alone with a nose pore cleaner strip. Her last post on July 1st read “Every1 else havin a lit Friday night & I’m here examining the nose pore cleaner strip I just peeled off & I must say, nothing can top this.”
