Instagram announced they were going to put live video to Instagram Stories on November 21. Instagram stories had been introduced in August.

The change, though it was announced in November, caught some users by surprise.

Instagram in its unconcealed need to mimic Snapchat is also making these live videos ephemeral. The videos will only be available during the broadcast. At the end of the stream, the video disappears from the app.

This is not only an attempt at copying Snapchat but a hint at taking concepts from lesser known social apps like Periscope.

The broadcast sharing option only works for an hour, and your friends may get a notification when you go live.
