Instagram, owned by Facebook, came out with a copy of Snapchat Stories in 2016. Following the success of Instagram Stories, Facebook is now bringing “Facebook Stories” to its main platform.
The interface is being tested in Ireland, a spokesperson told Business Insider, with plans to roll it out in the coming months to other countries.
The interface is an exact copy to Instagram Stories, with it being prominently displayed at the top of the app. Anything you choose to share to stories disappears after 24 hours.
A social media giant like Facebook utilizing a unique interface from Snap Inc doesn’t sound terrific for the ephemeral content app. It also isn’t Facebook’s first effort to eliminate Snap Inc’s relevance in the market, utilizing filters and a Snapchat-style camera inside its platform.
Snap Inc will need to compete for users with distinct features or hardware.
