Instagram users were surprised by the Instagram update Thursday morning: they needed to scroll or tap through their feed horizontally instead of the familiar vertical scroll.
Though the feature only appeared briefly, users immediately took to Twitter to express their dislike of the new scrolling feature. #instagramupdate was quickly trending in the U.S.
The update gave instructions that stated to “Tap through posts, just like you tap through stories.”
Instagram was testing out this new feature with a small number of users, but the bug caused it to rollout to the Instagram masses.
