25yo British actor Will Poulter is starting 2019 with an announcement of a break from Twitter to focus on mental health.

Poulter did not specify how long this break would last or the specific circumstances that led to this decision, but said he would continue posting for the campaigns he supports, such as an anti-bullying organization @AntiBullyingPro.

Poulter plays a successful video game designer ‘Colin Ritman’ in Bandernsatch, an interactive episode of Black Mirror that launched on Netflix on 28 December 2018.

Poulter gave a thank you for the responses to the episode and that he accepts a variety of criticisms. However, he continues:

“There are positives to enjoy and inevitable negatives that are best avoided. It’s a balance I have struggled with for a while now and in the interest of my mental health I feel the time has come to change my relationship with social media.”

He finishes his post with “this is not the end. Consider it an alternative path” as a clear-but-maybe-not-so-clear reference to the Bandersnatch storytelling style.
